Default Swapping viscous Fan for Electric?

Hi all,
I have a 2.5 petrol 94, Cherokee.
I have in the past changed the viscous fan setup to an Electric Fan with a special "adjustable themostat" that sits in one of the coolent hoses.
I use the jeep on roads most of the time so I was thinking the electric fan setup is better.
When I have done this conversion in the past on other jeeps, vans , It gives the engine more torque and improves fuel economy.
I am a bit worried though about the Air-con, Does this need the viscous fan also to work?
Anyone done this before on an XJ?

you need a very thin electric fan. xj's don't have much room there.

a popular mod is to fit in a ford taurus fan. one from a 3.8L with 3 speeds.

others use a flex-a-lite 108, but are over 100 bux.

another great swap is the small ac cooling fan. swap it out for a 96+, they have better design and more cfm. they're the ones with curved blades.

Will electric fans perform well while mudding? My concern would be throwing the fan off balance and having it break apart and tear-up my radiator.

well that's the brilliant part of an electric fan. you just wire up a switch so you can shut it off when in deep water/mud.
just have to remember to turn it back on afterwards. i have heard horror stories when someone lent out their jeep and the friend didn't know about the switch, jeep overheated and crapped the motor.

even a clutch will burn out of a stock mechanical fan when in deep water.
