Maybe it's only the earlier ones. 96 is a "bastard" year.

^ My 1996 seat cushions are different than that. Covering is lashed onto seat frame. Not modular like the above pictures. Same with the ZJ seats.

Thanks cruiser54 for taking the time to post those pictures .... now I can definitely tell you all ... I ain't got nothin like those pictures!! lol!!
As SteveMonger said ... "my seat cushions and wires and springs are all lashed into the lower seat frame tubing."
There are obviously different designs for different years ... I have a 1996.
My seats are like a chair that has a spring support system and then a foam layer over top. No steel tub.
Thanks to all ... I am going to try and take the cover off the lower seat cushion and build it up with foam. First time I'll be doing this. I'll take pics of the process.
fast

88 front seats swap
I have an 88 Cherokee and like most the driver seat is wore out. Did you just swap brackets and seats both from one side to the other? I was told passenger seat will work on driver side..

can I swap the backrest part of the front seats also? I haven't swapped the bottom cushions yet but I have looked at them and know how to do it. Not sure on backrest cushions of front seats? My whole driver seat is crap. Backrest part leans against the arm rest.

Once you get the bottom cushion off, you'll see 4 more bolts (maybe 2 botts and 2 nuts) that hold the seat frame to the pedestal. So the seat frame bolts to the pedestal, then the cushion bolts to the seat frame,
Here's my 88 during a seat swap (cracked seat frame)
