Amsoil is one of the worst scams ever perpetrated on the motoring public. Get that stuff out of there and put in a real oil (or synthetic).

I just did an oil change on my Jeep to go to smog. Need one more quart. Can I add a quart of the Rotella t6 to the synthetic, Shell Platinum I put in? Any issues?

I took another look and it appears as though the test I pulled my data from may be flawed. However, yours appears off as well as I've never seen TBN that low on a VOA... I will review the data I have collected for QS Defy when I update to include member-requested information.

Regardless, QS Defy's ZDDP still pales in comparison to any mixed-fleet dual-licensed HDEO on the market, so I'm not sure where you get "higher than over glorified rotella" from.

No idea what Shell Platinum is but I wouldn't be worried about adding a single quart of another oil from the same manufacturer.

Oh that's why I was confused. Not really a scooter though. It is from a 1300cc (80 cubic inch) Vtwin motorcycle and the reason I posted that was because someone mentioned the zinc levels in the newer Rotella oils arent what they used to be. Even though this isn't a VOA the zinc levels are still acceptable according to Salads article. Another reason I posted that is because the analysis date is August 2012 so its less than two years old and therefore being the most relevant to aforementioned complaint about Rotella. Sorry for the long desription but I just wanted to be clear.

Our whole family has been riding for years.......anything with 2 wheels, we refer to it as a scooter(s), even a Goldwing.

An observation... Many complain of synthetic making leaks worse... Why not replace the offending seals and gaskets? That is what I did and amazing! My jeep is leak free with t6 in the crankcase. None of them are that hard to change dirty but not hard.

Before anyone jumps on the bandwagon (especially the rotella route) consider what there is to gain. Noisier valve train and accelerated and or new leaks are a distinct possibility. Some swear by it. Roll the dice if you wish, but the writings on the wall.

That's been known to happen with a lot of oils, conventional included. I can't remember how many threads I've seen where someone simply changed brand and had problems.

Not every engine likes the same oils the same way. No idea why this is, but it makes an accurate recommendation impossible.
