Unhappy Tank isnt venting whats going on?

I have a 2000 xj with the coil pack 132,381 miles and im getting horrible gas mileage. when im pumping gas i can only add about 30 cents worth of gas then the pump clicks off. i can hear my tank filling up and gas even sometimes will come out. It goes down after 5 seconds or so and the processes repeats itself. my check engine light isnt on. I noticed that my purge solenoid is constanlyy clicking never stopping?

My old f-150 did this, and it turned out the P.O. Found the fill neck leaked a litlle, so decided to fix it with a piece of garden hose stuffed into the neck, I had to fill it with gas cans in my driveway, too embarrasing to fill at the gas station like that. Just a thought, and probably not whats wrong with yours, but just take a peek in there with a flashlight

If the neck was leaking then how would there be pressure in the tank? I appear to be not leaking gas.

If you can, take it to a mechanic. I have never heard of this issue, nor do I have experience with an issue such as this. Hopefully someone will answer up soon.

no offense firstime00xj but im not letting a mechanic touch my baby lol. theres gotta be someone else that has or has fixed this problem. My tank isnt venting and my lines to my charcoal cannister are hooked up. I dont have the LDP on my model so the one larger line is capped off right?

No offense taken, but no offense to you, if you can't figure an issue out, at some point an ASE certified mechanic isn't a bad choice. (I'm not talking some joe shmoe from a Midas or any place like that, I'm talking a real repair shop where all the mechanics have to be either state certified or ASE) Where in MI are you located? I really have no idea about your issue, it isn't something that I have ever dealt with...and I've dealth with quite a few issues. lol.

I'm located near Jackson. I understand being on a budget, but sometimes one must bite the bullet to have a problem fixed before it causes an even larger problem. If you do end up taking it to a shop, review the following website so you know what is right and wrong when dealing with a shop. Good luck, and I hope that your issue is taken care of promptly and cost effectively.
