I agree and disagree. There are some things that an average joe who may not have the mechanical prowess shouldn't do. For me, I don't have the tools or the time, (2 youngun's running around the house, college/work) In this instance, if it was my Jeep, I would take it in because I know nothing about this topic. However, other issues like plugs, wires, light stuff that I do have the tools for I do myself. There are good, honest shops with good, honest mechanics; it is just a matter of finding them. Oh...btw itsanxjthing, uhh...I think your xj should be in a hunting magazine with a deer or elk on top....lol, it's nice.

i think the charcoal canister is in the back near the tank in the XJ though, not in the front like this diagram has. Not 100 percent sure though.

good luck, let us know what you end up doing OP.

Whatever gets the job done, not like I have to drive it, but I like too. How you gonna learn if you never try?

Yeah I agree with that 100%...the best way to learn imo is experience.

There was nothing in the vent line it was clear. Whn I take off my gas cap there is like a giant purge of fumes relased still and still problems with trying to add gas
