Default Tapping noise from rear axle drivers side

Have been hearing a kinda tapping sound when driving my 2001 xj. I do not hear it when gas is applied or when brake is applied only when moving without gas or brake. Is sounds like it's coming from right underneath the front seats. I do have a 3" lift too. Thanks in advance.

Is it a light tap or more of a clunk?
Light tap, do what 93 said and check the Ujoints.

If it;s a clunk, check your trans/tcase mounts and exhaust.

I will have to try and make a video tomorrow of the noise to be accurate but probably more of a tap cause if the radio is on I can't really hear it.

Then turn the radio off and listen or turn it up more and forget about it. But really you need to climb under it and start moving parts to try and locate it.

Well I check all the u joints all are in great shape. The noise is not coming from under the cab is coming from the drivers side rear wheel axle location the shoes in the drum were replaced 3 months ago. Tomorrow I am gonna try to take it apart double check everything. Any suggestions could really use them.

mine made some tapping noises underneath like that. it was the vent tube for the front dif hitting the driveshaft.

Could just be a loose spring or something, just make sure everything is tight.
