i dont think it really matters were you put it in at. i just drained all the coolant from my system and poured the flush in the radiator. it'll work its way though the system, just give it time. btw just doing this and adding some fresh water helped my temperature out alot. and im still not done flushing the system yet. on a second note, you said your secondary fan only kicks on around 230-240 degrees, but i believe they are supposed to engage around 218. are you sure you gauge is reading properly on the jeep?

Also, have you made sure you burped all the air out of your cooling system??? The lower radiator hose NEEDS to have the spring inside but only matters when your driving. When your RPM's increase, so does your water pump and that increase in flow could and most likely collapse your lower radiator hose so yes, you do need your spring but it should not be affecting your idle temp issue.

Here is a wild shot but have you checked your air intake, or where it goes into your engine. I had my air box get clogged and it past up 210 just from that alone.

deff a good amount of info on here for ya, you say it cools down a bit when your efan comes on, why not wire it to a switch and kick it on when you need it or you see it is begining to rise, it may help a little, just an idea, thats what we did with my friends xj when his started to heat, took 5min to wire up and now its fine.

Its an air pocket. I had my jeep do it a couple of times. Jeeps are really bad for air pockets because of the top radiator hose. The reason the temp goes down when u drive is because the water pump is mixing that air pocket up with water wich tells the coolant tempurature sensor the right temp. but when u stay at idle the water pump slows and it stops mixing that air pocket around. when the engine is cool try opening your radiator cap and filling your radiator to the top. You can rev ur engine as ur doin this and u will notice that the water level goes down. and just to leave you with something to think about, check to see if u need to flush ur system.
