Default temp gauge....

the temp gauge in my dash does not work. even when the engine is off, it remains in the same place just under the 210 mark. i'm not sure if this is something that can be fixed with a swapout gauge from the junk yard, or if there's something else i need to look at. any advice will be appreciated...i'm not a big fan of the idea that smoke would indicate a problem before a spiking needle would.

replaced the temp sender and it was a complete pain in the ***. taking out the old one was no sweat, just involved a 13mm deep socket and an extension. the new part, however, comes with a 9/16" bolt that leaves no room for a socket between the bolt and the head. ended up having to get my hands on a crows foot to get it in.

after all of that though, the gauge still doesn't read anything and sits just below 210 whether the engine in off, on, cold, or hot.

any ideas on what else could be replaced or if i should just instal an aftermarked gauge???

If the temp gauge is constantly reading a temp then the gauge itself is no good. If the sender was bad it would be reading 0.

I had severe corrosion on the resistor of my temp gauge.
