i have a 96 jeep cherokee and the temp guage stop working on my dash. does anyone know how to fix this. and also sometimes when i go to start my jeep it wont turn over but u can mess with the shifter and it will start. wat could be my problem

 

You probably need a coolant temperature sensor and a neutral safety switch.

 

ok thanks. where would the coolant swtch be located.

 

It's on the thermostat housing right on the front of the engine on the top.

 

k. how can i tell that its bad. or do i jus have to replace it and c.

 

You could try measuring the resistance, since yours is not working at all it would probably read zero which would mean it is bad.

 

I thought the sending unit for the gauge on a '96 was at the back of the head, no?
