Default Temp Sending Unit for gauge

So im trying to replace the sending unit for my temperature gauge so itll work again but I cant find it anywhere its a 2001 XJ. I looked on the motor by the valve cover under the exhaust manifold everywhere and I cant find it.

It's threaded into the tsat housing on the right for your year.

its on the thermostat housing on the front of the engine right under the valve cover. Like the other guy said

You basically cant put your hands in the engine without touching the Tstat sender, its right there. The thermostat itself is not hard, but you would have to drain your radiator.
