thermostat housing hoses issue
Hi all. I have a 1990 xj. Just replaced the water pump, serpentine belt, and thermostat housing. My question is...how do I remove the thermostat hoses so I can put new ones on? And what size are they? Thanks in advance. Please respond to my email because I'll probably not find this page again. genedelong443@gmail.com... Thanks again.

96 and earlier should have the Heater Control Valve (HCV). Rip that stupid thing out. Just grab 4 feet of 5/8 and 4 feet of 3/4 heater hose, and cut to fit. There is a vacuum line going to the HCV. Disconnect and plug it, then tie it up out of the way. (Pro tip: Black cable ties last far longer than white.)
Done.
If you want to be fancy, buy the factory hoses for the 97 or 98 model year. They are nicely formed to fit.
