thinkin about rebuildin my 4.0
i got a 95 xj with about 176K on the motor
well im hearin a knock sounds like its comin from the bearings
i was thinkin about just gettin a new motor but dont have the $$$
i was wonderin if i can just resurface the crank and put in some new bearings
im moving soon and have a 900 mile trip through nevada and utah and im not tryin to get stuck in BFE
any suggestions

Nope, that won't allow you to see cracks in the usual place (between the mounting bolts). you should pull the cover and check for loose torque converter bolts.
Plasti-gage the rod and main bearings and pay particular attention to the upper bearings.

Then a cracked flexplate is not your problem lol. Yeah I would drop your pan and plasti gauge your bearings to check the clearances. 20 psi is still pretty good pressure. Not super great but not to bad.

i just dont want it to break down on a 900 mile trip through nowhere lol
driving at 65 70 revvin at 2 grand for 4-5 hours at a time doesnt sound like it would be to good on any engine espicially one with a knock somewhere
