That's about right... I regularly get low 20's with mine. 4.0l, 5-speed, with 3.07 gears on 235's...

My son has a 92...great truck except for the rust...floorpans and rear wheelwell area...but that should not be a problem in sunny Arizona.

I was looking at the comanche, but I ended up with the cherokee, no regrets. If you can, try to get one with the 1 ton package, it has the dana 44 with upgraded suspension that can carry 1 ton of payload. Unfortunetaly, most have the dana 35 which is ok if you don't plan on bigger tires or off roading. Thay are prone to rust so if you can find one thagt is rust free, you are in luck. As far as the renix, it was still around untill the early 90s.

I want one and I've got a good Cherokee!! Had a chance locally in ATL to get an 86 4cyl, 5spd 2wd for $400! Not running, tad bit of rust on the tailgate and worst of all...salvage title..many hoops to jump thru in GA to clear the title, just not worth it....can find another

yeah the 4cyl is laughable, but I was gonna transplant the WHOLE drivetrain of mine into it....price wasn't bad, that was my only interest!

the V6 is not a very good engine either, IMO. I test drove a few and they seemed to be way under powered. I had to push the petal to the floor just to get it up to highway speed. Maybe I had bad luck looking for comanches, but I would perfer the 4.0

My BIL had one until recently with the 1 ton package. The thing was sweet, rough around the edges of course, but sweet. Rats chewed the wiring up so he sold it for $500 because he didn't have the time for it. Very little rust, I6, 4x4, and a D44 for $500. I hope to have one someday when the kids are older and don't ride with me as much.

This is a friend of mines old MJ. Sadly due to very bad rust on the frame it was stripped to the bone and turned in on cash for clunkers (20oz Gatorade bottle for gas tank, D35 welded to frame...Stripped!) It was an awesome truck and I hope to duplicate it soon. Good luck on your builds!

My DD is a 2.5 5 spdw/ac. Its not that bad. I know quite a few ppl who wheel 2.5 Yj's with inertia rings and f250 axles on 38's. No breakage what so ever. Of course the only still 2.5 is the motor. Trans is either 435 or t-18, but the 4 cyl's are tough and just about everywhere to get parts.
