I had a few issues with this just last week,

synth oil can cause the valvetrain to seem louder
Going from synth to conventional or visa versa has been proven to be ok
(Bitog for reference )
What is your oil pressure at when you start it up, and after 30a minutes of driving,
The 4.0s make a slight valvetrain noise while under load, up until 2k-ish
keep your oil.in there run sea foam or MMO or both, yes it is safe to mix them but running for to long pre-wears the oil so I would only rub for 100-150u miles then change your oil, I use mobile1 and a m1 filter as well, it may be a stuck lifter, the sea foam mmo mix will break down sludge and anything that may be clogging an oil passage, also don't be afraid to red line her a couple times with the sea/mmo mix, also run some fuel injector cleaner (techron/ gum out WITH regan) injectors can make a ticking noise
Also don't add any Lucas oil stabilizers, new synth motor oils are far superior, and does not need any additives like that, also it you visit Bitog you can see a test were is ruins your oil,
a bad o2 sensor can cause it to run rich also causing valvetrain noise (at mine went out and boy was it loud) try those, change your oil (at mobile one penzzoil are my favorites ) MAKE SURE ITS HIGH MILEAGE, I would stick with synth

Okay, now we're getting somewhere. Sounds like a sticky lifter.

An oil and filter change using 5 quarts of your favorite oil along with a quart of Marvel Mystery Oil. In 1,000 miles, drain it out, change filter and put the same 5 to 1 combo in.

Don't run seafoam in your oil for very long. If memory serves the directions say something to the effect of running the engine for 20-30 mins after adding the seafoam then changing the oil.

Personally I wouldn't put it in my oil but I'm kinda picky about oil.

Yeah. I woulda just run the 5 quarts of oil plus MMO for 1,000 miles. Seafoam makes me nervous in the oil.

The new can of sea foam and Bitog say you can run seafoam for long periods, but Bitog found that it is safe in small amounts otherwise since the naphtha in it is a detergent it can break down the oil quicker, so I say 200 -300 max in a full seafoam treatment, also for future reference if you want serious and I mean some serious engine cleaning, use mmo, and rotella synth ( blue jug) it is a diesel oil and has very strong detergents, I used to use it every other oil change on my track bike because of the cleaning properties and it was jaso ( wet clutch ) certified

"I'm kinda picky about oil."

Mobil 1 10W-30 and a Wix (for the '87) or Mopar (for the '92) filter.

'Nuff said.

Huh, interesting. Well if its running quietly and you are happy with the results I'd say run it for 3000 and then put on either the exact same brand and size of the filter or try a different brand filter that is the same size and see if it's the smaller size or a coincidence that your engine quieted down with that filter.

Best of luck!

Ok so it did stop ticking right? And it was with a smaller filter? What's ur oil pressure at hot? If u got the same m1 filter I got it takes almost an entire quart more than with the standard filter because its the extended one, but if the smaller filter works, and m1 oil stick with it! Lol I was gonna say maybe its not that and a lifter was loose! At least u got it fixed and im sure u have a clean engine by now haha!
