Default Ticking Noise in Engine Bay

I have got a 1997 jeep xj country.
There is this ticking noise coming from the passenger engine bay ive located it and when you touch it you can actually feel it too, just not sure what it is and how to fix it. Ill attach some pictures below. Any help will be appreciated.

Some never hear it, even with the hood open. Some do. Some can hear it from the driver seat, with the hood closed. Some thought it was a noisy lifter. Nope. It was that thing clicking away. If there are no codes, i wouldnt worry about it.

So that clicking is normal? Even if i had got a new one it would click, or do they start to click as they get old. I have no lights on but its just annoying to listen to the damn thing.

Not my video and I take no credit. The ticking is the rod count for the PCM.

my understanding is excessive noisy operation could be indicative of a fault. If it gets bad, the vehicles will begin to run less well and eventually generate a code

obtaining and swapping in a junkyard unit would be the most economical way of testing imo

I thought I had a motor problem on my 01 but it was that valve clunking/ticking..has been doing it for years...If you unplug it it stops making noise but you throw a code. Yes I can hear it from inside...that's why they make a radio...lol

Well this is awesome info to come across. I thought i was having some internal engine issues with that clicking, ticking, tapping noise coming from the same area... passenger side towards the back. I didnt pin point the sound, but I suppose thats what it is on mine as well. Only hear it when the hood is up...
