well here's an update:
found the area of my wiring issue. Wanted to ask you guys the easiest way to fix it..
I closed the door the other day when I was going to move the jeep out of the garage. When the door closed the fuse popped.
This door was welded earlier this year to fix it from sagging and falling off. I think what happened is that the harness for a little while was holding some of the doors weight and it rubbed the insulation down on the harness, or something like that.
I took my door apart but the previous owner installed dynamat and it slowed me down a bit.
I got to thinking, can I just replace the whole harness section that goes from the main harness to the doors? Would I be lucky that there is a disconnect in that harness section? Or would this be a big mess of soldering to pull that off?
There's enough jeeps locally that I could get the door harness easily but I'd really like to just pop the old section out and clip the new one in.

One thing...I have a '91 XJ but for some reason this model year is not represented in the choices available for manual. I just chose the 1993 Cherokee and the manual has been dead on so far. Up until I was turned to this link, I was using Haynes but Haynes is never right for anything electrical.

ok well this issue is finally sorted out. I ended up biting the bullet and paying the dealership to fix it but I saved a lot of money on the ordeal by having everything out of the way already. Well, almost, the one part I left in (headliner) was covering the problem.
It turned out that a pink wire to the vanity lights on the sunvisors was the issue. It had rubbed all of the insulation off and was directly shorting to the roof. Not sure how it was rubbing under the headliner but its fixed now. I was looking in the door. Completely in the wrong area. Glad to have it fixed. Now the jeep is much more fun to drive now that I have some tunes.
