Tiptronic trans. in new jeep
So i'm looking a for a newer jeep with less problems and found a 98 limited with a Tiptronic transmission. I know how it works but i just wanted to know if anyone has an any opinions or suggestions. this jeep has a 4inch skyjack lift and a wilderness roof rack and a swing out tire rack bumper. I would take the lights off my jeep and install them on the new one. sounds good to me just want to make sure with that odd transmission. Thanks

A 98 XJ Limited? Or are you talking about a 98 ZJ Limited? The XJ never had a Tiptronic transmission from the factory and I don't believe the ZJ ever did either.

i just figured xj on the xj forum. but yes its a xj limited. The jeep will have a 100,000 mile extended bumper to bumper warranty from the dealer, and I know the owner so I know it will be honored. I just want to know how it will perform.

yep just clarifying the method to my madness. haha. This will be the first truck i have bought on a loan so I hope to go in tomorrow. i'm not sure how long it will take to process the loan. yep and of course i will post pics of it when i buy it. i would have liked a manual but found this and its in my price range.

They just don't know how to list things. Probably high miles as well since it's not listed anywhere.
Doesn't look like a bad deal, but you could find a better one I'm sure. Adding all the aftermarket stuff doesn't make it worth more. Honestly, I'd offer $3500-4500 out the door, depending on mileage. You can get a newer one for around that price nowadays.

i'll post pics of the tranny when(if) i get the jeep. i just wanted to post a link to the rig. it has 130500 on it. i have a 1995 xj with 125000 some minor fixes needed. nothing that effects running ability just stuff like one new sway bar end link's needed and a small patch on the muffler where the old owner drilled a hole.
i think its just an override on the steering console
