31" tires is about as big as you can go i do believe without fender cutting... sure theres a little rub but only when you turn and such

31's will rub without any lift mods.

The tallest tire you can go with at stock height that won't rub at all is a 235. They are roughly 28-29 inches tall.

i have 28inch bfg all terrains, they fill out the wheel wells alright and its just a little bit meatier than the road tires. better to have the 28s with more traction than a bigger road tire in my opinion

you CANNOT put 31's bone stock with no modification, BUT you can put 30x9.5 with just a little rubbing but if nothing else just get some m/t with alot of tread

If you want the tires to look bigger, go with at least some gnarly 30-31's . They wont fit will, the 31's wont fit at all, but a 2-3" lift can be had for VERY cheap, especially if you just use blocks in the rear and the coils from a grand cherokee or f150 up front or spacers.
I have 31's under 2" lift, its not quite enough (more soon), but my jeep looks a little mean and still looks stock...until I'm next to a stock jeep.
You also won't destroy gas mileage / need t-case mods if you stay under 3-3.5

To everyone...please don't yell at me for recommending blocks...I know they aren't great but they're cheap

what are your future plans? Bigger tires give you the most wow effect but what are you planning for the Jeep? Is it gonna be for the trails or just street? If it's eventually gonna hit the trails then there are other things to do before tires... I'm just trying to get an idea of what you want your jeep for so we can advise you on how best to spend your money... some people say rear locker and armor, then lift and tires but if it's just for street than 30x9.5's would be the size your looking for

yes and you have to take into affect the wheels size like the backspacing on my mickey thopson wheels causes my 235's to rub a little because the wheels stick out farther than stocks, therefore causing it to rub. So to answer you question yes they will rub like hell with no modifications such as trimming or lift. But i have seen many nice jeeps running around with the 30's. All im saying is watch the backspacing cause that plays a major part in rubbing as well

yup i was running 30s on 4in BS rims and had crazy rubbing...that is until the tires wore down some of the plastic. then it was only on big bumps and sharp turns. pulled off the front bumper caps and pulled the liners up at of the way and that helped for the most part. but my suspension was tired, the leafs sat flat in the back, so yours might not be as bad
