Considering cost, I am leaning toward the Pirelli Scorpion (current $80 rebate from Sam's)
ON a 92 XJ, no lift.

I live in Africa, drive on lots of gravel roads and broken pavement. I really like the Scorpions for this kind of driving. Mine are LT 235s, and I am really sold on the LT version - tougher sidewalls, resists punctures better.

Thanks, will do.
How are they for road noise?

yeah definitely get an LT version.

most if not a of the all terrains on the market have minimal road noise. They don't have the big large lugs that typically produce road noise.

I've got them in 235. ONLY complaint is that it took a lot of weight to balance all four of them. As soon as time permits I plan on getting an alignment and rebalance. Rotated them last week and it helped some by putting the worst vibration in the rear instead of up front. Any speeds below 35mph and above ~40 or so it's fine.

Yeah the pathfinders have 0 road noise. They break away pretty quick in sand and dust but do great in mud snow and rock (IMO).
