Do yourself the favor and get under the jeep and soak the threads of these with PB blaster and if possible wirebrush/wheel them. They'll come out much easier.

x2, its the bitumen sealing coat underneath, you will never get that mongrel out before you deal with that aspect

Been spraying it with PB for a while, but the Torx head is already stripped from my first attempt with a cheap Torx bit probably two years ago.
I will try wire brushing the threads.

try heat like a propane torch (underneath), to burn off the bitumen, make sure you dont start a fire inside (or underneath)

I tried to get one out on wreck, and it got so tight, I gave up, didnt even snap the head off using a breaker bar...the hard bitumen & dirt wound into the threads and sealed it

I own a torx set. Just a regular one. One of the reasons I bought the set I did was cause all the torx were not just 1/4" and 3/8" drive.
A couple of the bigger ones were 1/2" drive. You don't see that with every set.
Despite that when it comes to the bigger torx I have been buying 1/2" drive impact ones from my store.
On an as needed basis.
For the very reason that Spencer said.

The old 1/2" rattle gun is sometimes needed.

yeap bust out the big guns, and try any method you see fit to put as much downward force on the bolts so it cant slip. So sit on the gun, have someone else sit on it, lean over on it....etc...

Torx heads are a pain, replace them with hex head and be done with that bastard head.

I was emailing a buddy, needed to send him a photo, and came across a photo of my stash to date of 1/2" drive impact torx.
And the one T-40 I decided I needed in a 3/8" drive too.
Wish I could remember why.
So I thought I would post the shot. LOL.

I could easily have sheared or snapped the head off by using my 3/4" gear, with an adaptor, despite the hardness of the fastener

thing is it would have come out fairly easily... if you do the prep

the one I struck trouble with was at least half out, but I didnt have time or all my tools, as I was in a field somewhere
