I have not used their bumpers personally but I have seen alot of good reviews on their products, which is why we decided to carry them. For us personally they have been very easy to work with. They worked with me and a customer who was in a wheel chair to try to come up with a tire carrier release that would work better for him and his situation.

I would not consider welding onto the unibody. You can only weld to one side and that would be welding to sheet metal so there would be no strength. If you can fab up a set of 1/4" plates that bolt through the 5-7 bolt holes on either front frame(unibody) rail then you would have something to weld to. Without the 1/4" plate you have nothing solid to weld onto.
A good pull will just tear them from the unibody without a solid plate behind the weld. My plates go all the way back to the coil spring bucket but mine was homebuilt. I have no hooks but clevis rings on my front bumper.
