Please Help with TPS testing
Jeep is idling extremely high (2000+ rpm) codes p0505 iac and p0123 tps.
went ahead and replaced the iac, now trying to test the tps. With the sensor unplugged i have +5 volts on the pin closest to drivers side (which seems correct) but also have +1volt on the middle pin. Again, this is with the sensor UNplugged. Shouldnt the middle pin show no voltage without the sensor connected?
also, should there be continuity between each of the pins?
Just trying to eliminate the wiring or connector before replacing the tps itself.
Thank You

Forgot to mention, this was with the key on, engine off.
just tried testing with the sensor connected ( with a needle stuck in the back of plug for a probe) 1.1V at idle position, 4V at full throttle. Seems like a smooth transition as the throttle opens, but the 1.1V at idle seems too high?

Yes, orange wire. The center pin of the connector.
so does this high voltage indicate a bad TPS, or a problem in the wiring?
Thanks

Yes, voltage indicated is out-of-spec. I would replace the TPS w/ a Mopar unit.
Edit: it could be the wiring but if you've checked it the TPS is your culprit. Not uncommon...

Thanks for your help. I picked up a new tps and iac and have them installed. Battery cables are disconnected (waiting 12 hrs as someone suggested on another thread)
in the mean time i was checking the plug for the tps (without the sensor connected) and my meter shows continuity between the 5v pin and the ground pin. Is this normal? Sorry, electrical is not my thing...
Thanks

Okay, thank you so much.
I read somewhere on another thread to leave battery disconnected 12 hrs to reset computer after replacing sensor. I'll go hook it back up right now and try to start it.
Will let you know what happens...

Running fine now. Both CEL codes are gone and idle seems normal. After hitting the gas, the return to idle still slightly delayed, but i can live with that for now.
thanks again for your help
