married, connected, whatever you wanna say. They dont share the same oil/fluid.
is it an automatic tranny and did you check the fluid when it was running and then when it was shut off?

Your posts are quite confusing

First of all, state the year and model of your jeep so we know what we're talking about. As far as I know there is no vacuum lines going to the t/case. If you have an early jeep with the vacuum disconnect front axle, I think that is controlled by an electric switch on the t/case, if I'm not mistaken.

Okay, this dude has a 95 Grand Cherokee with an automatic and 242 t/case. Found this from his other posts.

Do you know of any ZJ that has vacuum lines going to the t/case? I don't. Is it possible someone connected the vent line to engine vacuum?

I would imagine the engine would be pouring smoke if it was burning transmission fluid like that. The trans vacuum modulator in my old 79 K10 was allowing the slightest bit of fluid to be sucked out and it was smoking like crazy that's how I figured out the issue.

Yeah, I remember burst vacuum modulator diaphragms. The older Chevy Impalas and Caprices were noted for that.

The ZJ 242 works the same as the XJ NP242 there is no vacuum.
