Default Trans Cooler Line Quick Connect trouble

92 Cherokee, upper radiator to front trans cooler line rusted and sprung a leak so, I bought a new one to replace. Does everyone have a quick connect in the middle of the line and into the trans? Why is there one in the middle?
It was impossible to re-connect them with the O-ring setup the way it came. So I tried different o-ring combos until I got them both firmly connected. But they still leak! Anyone have any advise on how I can get them to stop leaking?!!?

Thanks in advance

No one has delt with trans cooler lines? This is my first Cherokee, had it for only two months so I've never delt with this before.

That's the way they come, quick-coupler between the metal and rubber portion of the lines. Drawing here:

Exactly where is it leaking? At the radiator connectors? The mid-line coupler? Elsewhere?

leaks are at the quick connects, mid line at into the trans. Thought I had them snug but, they were spraying pretty good. Part of the problem is my bum hand. Dislocated thumb and index on my right making it hard to push firmly. Waiting for it to heal a bit, then I'll try again.

It appears from reading other posts that the quick-connect is a frequent source of misery. There is much information about chopping it right out and using hose clamps, etc. (see forum link I posted in previous post).
Hope your hand gets better ASAP!

Thanks, my hand is doing better. Well enough to get the connects hooked up without leaks. I used the original o ring setup but really had to push to get them in. Now she's running again after being down for two weeks!
