What transmission do you have,

The AX-15 holds 3.5qts.

FILL OUT YOUR INFO
The form is there for a reason, when people dont use it we cant really help.
See the confusion youve already started by simply not providing the needed info?

AW4 uses ~8qts (2 gallons) of Dexron III.
AX15/ax5/"Puke"got uses ~3.5 qts.

If it is full just save what u drain and put the same amount back in that u got out are u just flushing the tranny or replacing it because if u just drain it not all the oil will come out it will most likely be no more then 4q

I'd like to get it all out with a new filter.

unless there has been reg fluid changes thru out the life of the truck it is not a good thing to change the fluid completley thers a good chance this will do more harm than good ,also unless there is a plug to drain the convertor you will have to remove the trans to get all well at least most of the fluid out .

I've heard that. My fluid looks pretty good, should I change it anyways?

I don't buy into the whole "more harm than good argument". I've changed clean to black murky fluid and never lost a transmission because of it. Even when I worked at a used car dealer putting fresh fluid in a trans never hurt it, on tons of cars. IMO if a trans is gonna go its going to be an internal mechanical issue not a fluid change.

What benefits would changing the fluid give?
