trans mount
my 89 xj has a 242 t-cas and i will be swapping in a 231 real soon. do the 242 and 231 use the same trans bushing on the cross member or are they diff? mine is blown out on my 242.

I am not aware of a bushing or mount under TC. The rubber mount is under the transmission and bolts to crossmember. The TC is bolted to the transmission only and hangs off the back of it.
If the TC has a skidplate under it than someone could have stuck a piece of rubber between the case and skid.
As for the transmission mount, one from NAPA would be good, just slightly overpriced at $30 or so.

How do you use your XJ depends on whether you need to spend 4 times as much as a stock one. All I run is a stock trans mount in my XJ and its for mostly all off road use, not a DD.
