Trans shift issues
Have 95 XJ with AW4 tranny. Does not shift correctly. Shifts from 1st to 3rd and does not shift to OD. I replaced TPS 3 times and TCM 2 times. When cold sometimes it will shift through all the gears but after it warms up will shift from 1st skip 2nd and go to 3rd but not OD. Even if I shift manually will still will not go into OD. I got the TCM's from salvage yard. Any suggestions?
thanks. Haven't been on forum in a long time. Hope someone has an idea

Sounds like bad solenoids to me. Do quick search about testing the solenoid resistance to confirm. They are fairly easy to replace and the set of 3 runs about $70 on Amazon, but it does mean dropping the pan to get to them.
By overdrive, I think you mean the torque converter lockup? Neither shift solenoid is engaged for 4th gear, but the 3rd solenoid controls the lockup. The TCMs rarely go bad, and when they do it's not intermittent like that.

Shift issues
Thanks all for the feedback on my tranny shift issues on my 95XI. I replaced all shift solenoids and adjusted the cable on throttle body that controls shift pressure I guess it called kick down cable? All is good. Tranny shifts great. Thanks again for the help.

Thanks for the follow up. Always good to hear when and how the problems get fixed. Yeah, that cable is often (incorrectly) called the kickdown cable. It doesn't actually control when the trans shifts, like an old school non-electronically controlled trans. As you noted, it controls the hydraulic pressure and the firmness of the shifts. Way out of adjustment, it'll either cause harsh shifting, sluggish shifting, or even no shifting at all.
