I have a 92 cherokee 2WD with the AISIN 5 speed, although it's more of a 4-speed, as it has a noisy, grinding hole in the pattern where 4th should be. I have a BA10/5 w/ transfer case, as well as axles and shafts, etc, from a '87 4WD cherokee. I am told that as long as I swap the bellhousing and crossmember along with the trans that the unit will swap in, and I intend to swap in the driveshafts, axles, transfer case linkage, etc, as well to convert to 4WD. (Yes, I know the BA10/5 has a poor reputation, but I have one, and this is currently a serious budget build.) Does anyone know if this will actually work or if I should just bite the bullet and start picking up aluminum cans to afford the bits to do the 4WD conversion w/ something resembling the original stuff. Any input would be appreciated.
