i recently bought a 92 cherokee, 4wd, automatic hubs, and overall, it is good, i previously owned a 91, and i loved it, but here's my question. when i was test driving it, i put it in 4H so i could get it out of the guys driveway (lots of snow behind it) and it worked just fine, then i decided to test the 4L, i stopped, put the transmission in neutral, and shifted to 4L, and at first it was good, really torquey like it should be, then with not even a sound, (after about 20 seconds),it acted as if it slipped out of gear and was in neutral, (tranny was in drive). then when i tried going back to 2wd (stopped, tranny in neutral) it would grind while trying to take it out of 4L. i eventually got it, but was wondering what would cause the 4L to malfunction when 4H worked properly? im much better at turning wrenches than diagnosing problems
