Default Transfer case and front drive shaft

My transfer case chain is slipping really bad and making awful noise when I accelerate hard. I'm gonna replace it but I don't have the money for a month or so, can I remove my front drive shaft to avoid this until I get my new np231?

it will be if it throws the chain off or breaks it, you'll be needing a new transfer case d/t the torn up internals or big hole in the case.

ok so it makes an awful clicking(sounds like a ratchet) while accelerating hard in 2wd, turning in 4hi and all the time in 4lo, it also gets stuck in 4lo sometimes. Issue has to be transfer case but im not an expert by any means so idk what about the transfer case is messed up

The front drive shaft is very easy to remove, 4 bolts on the diff. side, then it slides right out of the t-case. I removed mine because it was turning something in my t-case, making an annoying click clack sound even in 2wd. Been driving with out it ever since just fine.

Thats what my sound is, i think you got a streched transfer case chain, so im hoping that i can just fix the transfer case at a later date and drive without the front drive shaft in the mean time

only reason i said anything was because i could only hear it when accelerating hard. its probably your chain. id just take it easy till u can rip er apart.
