Default Transfer case seal.

OK so the rear seal in my transfer case is leaking. (np242) I'm trying to get this seal out but I keep bending the seal casing. Is there any trick to taking this thing out?

I encountered the same problem on my 231 when I was installing my SYE but I bent and broke the metal because I had a new housing anyway. I'll go out to the garage and see how it comes off for ya.

Ok, not that bad. The metal bends back down so don't worry about that. I used a flat head and a hammer. Went between the metal flange thing and the case Cover and wedged the two apart. Then angled the screwdriver towards the curve and pushed the two apart. I hammered it back on no problem. I noticed a broken spring in there....probably went on the rubber seal I broke on mine.

Thank you very much. I didn't want to end up bending the lip off the casing then I'd really but up a creak with no paddle. I'll give it another shot today.
