Transmission Dipstick Leak

Transmission Dipstick Leak
Hi! After moving my XJ after it had been sitting for a year it started to drip liquid. After a little investigation I found that the leak appeared to be coming from the middle of the transmission dipstick tube. What is the best way to fix this if any?

That's a two piece dipstick tube with an o-ring installed to seal it off.
Apparently the o-ring is bad.
A ghetto fix would be to clean that area off very good with soap and water, followed by some solvent to remove the ATF residue, then applying some RTV around the split in the tube. Allow to dry before driving.
The real fix is to drop the oil pan and replace the o-ring. The OEM part number is 53003977. You can Google that number and see if there's a source for it. You could try the dealer but lately they don't have alot of parts for the XJ.
Edit: That part number is good for 1988 to 2001 AW4 transmissions.
