Default Transmission fluid

Started having rough shifting. Changed my transmission mount, and thought what the heck I’ll change the transmission fluid too just a simple drain and fill it can’t be that bad.

Yea it was pretty black and smelled burnt.
jeep shifts and runs better now thank god🙌.
took it out to the desert about a month ago and my radiator went out so I’m assuming that’s probably why my trans fluid burnt up. Correct me if I’m wrong though.

Yep. You probably need to do it a few more times, or do a flush. See my sig, #3.

Funny thing my brother mentioned. The AW4 is basically the same transmission used in the small Toyota trucks used by the towelheads in the mid east! Do you think they get any maintenance? I figured they would all be stick shifts.

and yea with it being so dirty I was going to go about 200 miles drain, and fill again. Repeat about 2 -3 more times.

I wouldn't go over 50 miles. No point.

alright sounds good.
after this I’m planning on tackling my 4.5 lift from RE. Finally got everything mechanically sound fluids changed. Feels like an accomplishment. Pretty sure my wife is tired of looking at my tires and rims sitting in the house 😂.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAH!!!!!!!!! you said towel heads. I haven't heard that in a while... My slang term for them is not appropriate for use here....

Hey OP, did you trim those fenders? Or do they just LOOK bigger because of the lack of fender flares?

yes I trimmed the fenders and added protekto trim around the edges. First time I ever cut into a vehicle like that so i was definitely nervous, but it came out pretty well.

I would still rather spend the 40$ on fluids to keep my transmission happy then to replace my transmission, bunch of he said she said when it comes to the fluid. For me personally I like to know everything is fresh.
