Yea, very much so. I will just try to replace it with whatever they suggest. Sounds like it doesnt matter that much.. good to replace the filter at the same time? might as well make some routine maintenance out of this haha.

IMO the rubber gasket is a better choice if it is available. It won't rot as fast as the cork one and if you use the red FormaGasket you will probably never have a leak. Hope that solves your problem but if you need to replace the front seal we will try to help with that as well.

Very cool man, hey the forma gasket is that the red goupey stuff? or is it a plyable gasket?

If it was the front main seal would the oil be on the pan too? i know it drops from the front but im wondering where its coming from as far as leaking on the exhaust

The red FormaGasket is in a tube like toothpaste.
If the fluid was leaking from your front seal then it would run down the inside of the bellhousing and also down the torque converter and out the front of the bellhousing and spray all over everything from the bell back to the rear bumper. May even get on the rear hatch's glass too.

Thanks for the advice blue, i got the stuff and am going to install it later today.

Kind of a stupid question but when i replace the pan gasket im going to fill it back up with fluid but any advice on replacing the filter? ive never replaced one before.

Only replaced it on other vehicles not on an AW4 so can't give any specifics.

ok, so i almost changed the seal which im going to anyway, but heres the culprit of the leak... if anyone can tell me what might be causing it or if it IS the front main seal..!

the top pic is far out, but the 2nd one is close

One of 3 things are bad, 1-Torque converter, 2- front pump, 3- front seal as you suspected.

Thanks again! Man blue ur on top of things around here, i was hoping you were going to say tighten a bolt somewhere haha. Well, ill have to hope my buddy is home, hes got alot more experience at this than me.

Anyone know a good write up on replacing the front seals? i have the one about the rear.. but a good one on R&Ring the transmission would be great!

Sorry to bring an old post back to life like this but I have the exact same issue. What was your final fix?

Mine leaks plain oil colored fluid from that general area too. One bolt down there was backed out almost all the way but when I tried to tighten it back down it just kept spinning and did not get any tighter. What could the fluid be (I guess plain oil, or is tcase fluid also the same color as engine oil?) What can I do about the one bolt that wont tighten?

Plain oil = engine oil

TC oil = Transmission Oil (red in color)

You could tap the hole to the next size and get a bigger bolt.

Yeah It is engine oil color. I guess there is a gasket needs replacing somewhere? What is it called?
