Yes it supports the transmission. You dont want your trans bouncing around not to mention the stress on your motor mounts and the problems that could lead to.

x2 yeah donbt let it go cause it can lead to way more problems down the road and its not hard to replace at all.

That is definitely a crucial part and not an expensive one to replace, so get it done! I got mine from RockAuto.com, forgot how much I paid but it was very reasonable. I have not installed it yet, going to do it soon along with new motor mounts.

I assume replacing the trans mount is straightforward, but if anyone has any tips to make the job go more smoothly please post them up...

!!! WOW i just finished changing the tranny mount and it made a HUGE diffrence, what i did was i first unscrewed the four retaining bolts, then i lifted the tranny and took off those two big metal plates guardin the t-case nd the tranny. the only thing is i went to orielly's and bought my mount from there, and when i was putting on the retainer bolts back on one of the bolts broke.... so im not really sure u should go buy it there maybe try autozone or something.....and thanks for all the help!.
