Transmission mount installation.
Very simple question I have not been able to find the answer to.
Anyone who has changed a trans mount knows they are not level when viewing from the side. One side is higher than the other at about a 5 degree angle. Which side (the higher side or the lower side) faces the front of the truck? When i removed the old I failed to make note of the way it came off and considering the awful grinding and jerking ive created after the swap I'm thinking its possible i put it on backwards. My rear ujoint closest to TC is spewing grease and is the cause of my new found jerking and grinding. Angles are off and I'm almost hoping I put it on backwards. Thanks for your time.

I believe they can be installed incorrectly as there are numerous holes in the crossmember. How are your engine mounts?

One thing I noticed on the OEM mount is a small lump on the flat base of the mount that fits snugly inside the mounting plate above the trans mount so that you can only install it one way. The larger side of the mount faces the front of the truck. So that answers that. The aftermarket Anchor mount didnt have this reference point BUT I still had it on the correct way. I wonder why it caused my driveline to wig out so bad.. My driveshaft angles look very near similar with both mounts and the clearance between crossmember and tc are also very similar...

I bet your engine mounts are shot even though they appear good.
Try replacing those and getting a different brand trans mount?
The grinding is most likely the exhaust riding on the crossmember.

I read somewhere that changing engine mounts and not tranny mount is okay. But changing tranny mount and not engine mounts is a no no. Any input on this?
