I have had mine for 4 years. I feel like mine always shifted around 3500, but honestly I didn't really pay close attention. But I noticed on my last few wheelin trips that it stopped shifting when trying to get up hills. And when idling down steep grades iT would always shift. It stopped doing that as well. When I get home I will specifically try reving it to 4800.

My 98 will hit 2 but my 01 I haven't gotten to do it, and believe me I revved it, even tried just driving a bit of a distance in 1-2 with the 01 thinking that if it was held there for longer it would finally shift but I became concerned with revving it for so long before it shifted. There is one particular spot where my 98 will shift every time. Tried it on the same short stretch of the same road with the 01 and no shift. Doesn't really bother me but usually it shifts into third too soon and it would be nice to be able to hold second for longer at least. I also prefer to shift my automatics often.

So, I tested when I got home. I put it in 1-2 revved it to around 5k and it didn't shift. Put it in 3, and it shifts to second at ~2500. Same with "D". It just won't shift when in 1-2

Which means I can do the 2ND gear lockout switch now. As soon as my dovenose is completely done.

Sorry this is but this is the best place to ask it seems but does shifting into 1-2 help with acceleration? The shifting works properly I'm just curious.

Not for me. Mine still shifts at 4800 not matter the shifter position. It will hold it in second gear longer but it won't help with the 1 to 2 shift.
