Transmission Problem - 2000 XJ
Good Evening,
I have a 2000 XJ 4WD (4.0L) that is a unicorn, the right hand drive variant, now with some nice BFG's and an Old Man Emu lift which my wife uses for work at the Postal Service. A few weeks back the Jeep which we lovingly renamed to "Grenade" threw a DTC 703:
Torque Converter Clutch Solenoid/ Trans Relay Circuit: An open or shorted condition detected in the torque convertor clutch (part throttle unlock) solenoid control circuit. Shift solenoid C electrical fault - Asin transmission
A few days ago, while trying to reverse up an incline on her route the Jeep when placed into reverse would not back up the hill, rather it moved very slightly and made a loud whining noise. On a flat surface the vehicle still backs up with light gas applied; if you give it a little heavier throttle, it gets jumpy.
Any thoughts on what may be the cause. I know the obvious answer is trace the code, but I was curious to see if anyone else has ever had the same transmission symptoms and what that ultimately meant for the vehicle?
Thanks in advance for your time and suggestions!
