Default Transmission Speed Sensor

My 98 cherokee 4.0 automatic started not shifting right lately. All of a sudden it takes forever for it to shift out of 1st with almost no acceleration and its as if all the shifts just take to long. But when I manually but the tranny in 1st it has normal acceleration like nothing was wrong. The check engine light came on so it took it to autozone and they read the code saying it was a speed sensor. Turns out its a $130 part so before i spend that much does anybody think this will fix it?

Well turns out they didn't tell me an exact code, they just said it was a speed sensor. I probably should have asked, I'm new to having codes read.

So I replaced the transmission speed sensor and it seemed to drive fine for about 4 days. Now its back to barely shifting out of first gear when its in drive and there is practically zero acceleration, but once I manually put the tranny into first gear its perfectly fine. Any ideas what is wrong anybody? could it be a tps? The problem isnt constant, some times it drives fine and then the next day I want to run it over with a tank..

Mine had done that, if I remember correctly it was the shift sensors. Those control shifting each gear. Best to get taken care of before the tranny burns up. As Frank said codes are helpful to narrow it down to something specific.

So my trip to autozone to get the codes was delayed due to the jeep not starting. Turned the key on and got electrical stuff but didnt do squat once I tried to start it. Took the key out, put out of park then back in and nothing. Tried it in neutral and it would turn over but the only way to start it was to give it gas, which I normally dont have to do. It sounded like a bad nuetral safety switch which I have but havent replaced because I cant find where the darn thing goes! I refreshed all the ground and it started up perfectly fine

So back to those codes...

The first one is a P0700 and the receipt autozone printed out said transaxle control system fault. I have never heard of this so idk

The following are:
P0715: It says input speed sensor, which ive already replaced the tranny speed sensor
P0756: Shift solenoid "B" function failure
P0758: Shift solenoid circuit fault

Can anybody help me as to what the heck is going on with my jeep?

dirty contacts in the NSS. it's on the p/S of the tranny.
Remove
Disasemble
Thoroughly clean
Add fresh dielectric grease
Re-assemble
Re-install.

The one you have looks like the one needed for a manual tranny. The pic I posted is what's on your AW4.

Crap. Yeah that explains why I saw the part you posted when I was looking around underneath it and not the part I actually have. So then this would supposedly take care of my starting problems or the the bad shifting problems? or both I would hope

Both.
A dirty or improperly positioned NSS won't allow you to start the engine.

The Range Select Signal goes through the NSS. Dirty contacts=no signal=TCU/PCM can't properly shift the tranny.
