Default trimming fender?

i plan on trimming my fenders to reduce my rubbing . if i trim the fenders is it game over for getting bushwackers since the fenders are smaller? or can i still put these on eventually?

Bushwhackers are big and ugly anyway, but I think the "cutout" ones are made for cut fenders.

I just don't want crap being thrown at the side of the jeep, like rocks.

Haha but then again it is a jeep

im pretty sure you have to trim for all bushwackers (not 100% sure) but if you for sure want them go find their install manual and figure out how much the say you can cut off.. just my .02

dont cut the rear too far or you will cut through the quarter panle spot welds and seperate you fender well from the the outer panel! mine is like that from previous owner and now i get to fix it.

Fender trimming is required for Whackers, not optional. You can't mount them unless you trim, unless you plan to modify your $400+ purchase. But like someone said, they're huge (and ugly) and IMO if you're running 33" tires or smaller they look silly. Google a website called Napier Precision Products. They make an extremely durable Bushwacker-looking flare for the XJ that are less bulky, hold up better and look a LOT better on the Jeep. Trimming still required.

If it somehow happens that I can't run my TJ flares, these are what I would choose. Pretty popular with the NAXJA crowd - and frankly, as a group, no one knows the XJ better.

Go to the Bush wacker site, and down load their instructions (In PDF). Follow them for your cutting, and touch up painting. So when you do order them, all the hard work will be done already. And I do think the newer flat style, look pretty sweet. JMO!

BW's require trimming. Don't take a bunch off, just enough to stop the rubbing.

Which ever way you chose, I would follow their instructions. So when your ready to buy. It's a quick fit. In the mean time, Your tires aren't rubbing. That as my point.
