not sure what you're getting at, ring and pinion from a 4 cyl maybe? 4.10 gears are not gonna equal a low range in a 4:1 t case. besides, i'm runnin a min. of 4.10 w/ the 4:1.

i think i see what you're getting at, but 4.10 gears in your axles, is not the same as 4:1 gear reduction. your axles are going from somewhere between 3.07/3.73 to 4.10. where as your t case is going from 2.3:1 something low range, to 4:1 then geared at the axles.

Would the NP205 be a direct fit,as in will the splines on the output shaft for the transmission match up to the transfer case,or would i have to get a adapter kit for it.

no direct fit. no idea if there is an adapter for it.

i would dana300 it if anything.

4:1 is fairly cheap
strong everything
bolts in (flip it if needed)
another good option would be using your existing np231 as a doubler for your dana300, this is just 1" longer than your 231 alone so you may be able to get away with only slight driveshaft modifications depending on what axles your running.
*may require sheet metal pounding*

Seem to see this question quite a bit. To do a Dana 300 properly, flip kit, low gears, twin stick, clocking ring, etc. you are pretty damned close to cost of an Atlas. I went with the 5:1 Atlas and never looked back. Seems better to get something out of the gate designed for what you want rather than the extensive mods required to run a D300. With the new 4 speed Atlas and Stak 4 speed t-cases the Atlas 2 speeds have come down in price a bit as well.
