Yea they are pretty easy to be honest, 5 bolts total per side. Tools needed, 12 pt 13mm socket or wrench, 10mm socket or wrench, BFH, c-clamp or vise.

Happy Jeepin!

Take tire off, Take caliper off, Take 3 knuckle bolts off from rear of hub, Take axle out with hub assembly, replace u joints.

That's what I was thinking, I shouldn't need to remove the whole knuckle, my dad however doesn't think its possible I guess he's gonna have to listen to me for once lol

i will say, it is a little bit cumbersome trying to change the u-joints with the hub still attached. yes, you can do it, but it is much easier to remove the hub unit. i use my 7.5a electric impact, it removes that 36mm nut with ease.

just be very careful when you slide your shaft back in, if you don't keep it center in the tube when it slides through the axle seal, you risk tearing the seal and having a leaky axle. replacing the seals aren't that hard, but still not something to look forward to. (having the hub off makes inserting the shafts a whole lot easier too).

this link saved my butt !!! .. im May .. replaced joint in the street .. cracking the 1st joint loose took quite a few swings, with a reposition of push rod on each swing .. wear gloves, swing smart (no beer) .. once 1 side was out, 2nd popped free easy .. reinstall was butter with a lil grease

thanks nor-caljeeper !!!

now on my new project .. Im scratching my head if I want to pay a shop or do it myself .. looking at a combined labor deal, having them do tie rod boots too since easy access .. if i had a garage, i would be done already
