uncommon start issue
Okay, so tonight I went to move my jeep from the back yard to front yard and when I went to start it it went to turn over and then sounded like the start bound up, Tried it again, started right up. went to start it about 5 minutes later same thing..... and then it fired right up.
Yesterday I took a power washer to it, under carriage and engine bay, axles and so forth. I started it afterward and it fired right up no issues. Could something else have happened to it?
Btw I have a 1000 amp starter in it-not a whimpy stock starter....

checked it afterward just to make sure. completely dry....
And my gauge reads 12 when off 13.5 when on.
Thanks for the quick reply though!
it doesnt sound like a slow a crank, it strait up sounds like if you have an RC car and stop a wheel while its moving and then you can hear the electric motor bind/whine.

Not that I totaly trust those auto store tests but I would drop in and have them hook up to the battery. I was having starting issues as well and was ready to start swaping things out. Had them hook up their machine and all of my electrical parts were full power. I ended up narrowing it down to bad battery cables.

Could be something simple such as the battery cable or possible battery going bad. I presure was my engine compartment all the time and never had an issue with it starting afterwords.

okay got anOBD2 test today cause i thru a code, rather 3 codes! (still...)
The codes go as follows:
P1493:
Ambient or battery temperature sensor voltage wrong
P0203:
Injector #3 control circuit problem (open or shorted)
P0123:
Throttle position sensor voltage high
hmmm starting to make me think, The check engine light goes on and off and pnly happens with long periods of time inbetween them.... But it thru it yesterday with the start issues.
any ideas?

I bet that light is being caused by your injector issue. It could be related to the others but I would bet that injector is causing that light to go on and off like that.

Well maybe you have heat soak that is causing the #3 injector a problem. Try to take note when the light comes on. Does it happen after driving a while and turning off and then back on. Also, if the injector is going bad, wouldnt that cause some rough starts. Of course your TPS could be going out as well, causing rough starts. When is the last time you ran a fuel cleaner through the gas. I would first do that and pull the tps and replace it.

Thats What i might Do, And it comes on either the middle of wheeling on hot days but i never get above 200, and i had my engine up to 230/240 while towing a trailer in our Arizona heat for about an hour and i never got the code, even after it shut off and all of that jazz
i got brand new Ev6 style reman performance injectors about 8,000 miles ago and i ran sea foam about 1000 ago, it idles like a dream, start up like a dream, runs like a dream, Always has. Thats why i am at a loss lol. it just had the rough start after i let it sit over night after power washing it. It is fine now, no issues. I barely have to move the key to the start position and it cranks over-like normal.
i think it was one of those goofy jeep anomalies. I am going to replace the TPS for good measure and keep the old as a spare. They are not that much so why not? and i found out i cracked the battery temp sensor so thats why that is acting up. I stuck the bolt for my discos through the inner fender up into the battery tray when i wheeled with the sway bar still on...

yea, might have just been one of those things. Good easily be something strange after the power wash. BTW... how do your keep your temp at 200. I dont want mine that low.... but I would like to see it stay at 210. These last few days its been pretty warm here and my temp keeps going above 210 and the fan kicks on and cools it back down. I suppose its doing what its supposed to do but it drives me crazy to see the temp guage move back and forth.

mine sits anywhere from 200-210 always and never goes above, since its hot outside i have the AC on(even with 5% tint i still is hot......) and the electric fan i guess keeps its cool. I also have a brand new Thermostat, a Brand new radiator(PO never did a flush) and i have a spaced hood. It does pretty well and keeps the temp way down. Even on the hottest days(110 and towing). Like i said i just recently had it up at 230-240 and then it went back down, it is time to change out to a summer coolant mixture anyways..
