They were probably just worn out. The Bilsteins have more aggressive valving and control the stiffer HD leaves better than even new stock replacements, IMO. Because of the angle of the rear shocks (angled, not vertical), a wider range of shock lengths will work without problems, unlike the front where the shock and spring movement is the same. In the rear, the shock cycle length is always less than the movement of the axle at the spring mount.

Let us know how the replacement ujoints work out for you. Even if it doesn't cure the whole problem, you're due for replacements at this point anyway.

bringing up old thread.........are the fender flares different for the 'country' package trucks versus non-country?????? Are they wider?
