Stranded Hi 97 4.0 zj.
changed fob battery
Car won't start
Previously changed batteries over the years , had process to sync fob but now can't find ?????? How too
Fob has two button square fob
Previously something like put in ignition hold lock for 20secs or something
Any ideas ?? Thanks !

What do you mean by "doesn't start"?
doesn't crank, doesn't fire, doesn't stay running??

Generally with immobilizer issue vehicle starts then shuts down after a few seconds.

Wondering if immobilizer isn't the problem

Slow down. First, this is the XJ section - you might want to post in the ZJ section.

It might be helpful to specify there:
do you mean it won't crank? It cranks but it won't start? Or do you mean engine immobiliser?

hey , your right thank God I was stressing, it just got too me .
And felt like I was running out of options.
It was immobilizer, would turn over or do anything. In the end the new batteries I had in the fob were bad. I've had three sets in a month now . I was confused though cause it had started to get me where I was going then I couldn't get back . I need to buy more multimeters as I am never near my one 🤦🏻‍♂️

Any way it was a no crank, immobilizer, really threw me off and was acting weird - I blame the moon - but in the end it was dud brand new fob batteries.
I would have tested them before but my meter is at work 😕

Glad it was the batteries only. Because there is a saga here and there about this immobiliser driving people nuts (I had it too , to the point it didn't go anywhere anymore but just like that disappeared).
