Vacuum Ball fail
So went out for a lil wheeling today. When I came back to hose off some of the mud i noticed the Vacuum Canister was gone Did a quick search and noticed that the ball seems to help control a few a things but i noticed that people were always looking for cracks or such in there vacuum lines or the ball itself when they were having problems. But what about if I just cap the line off?
Im probably going to go back there tomorrow and see if I can spot where it fell off anyway. Hopefully i didnt run it over though lol
Thanks

yea thats what im thinking. but at the same time, if plugging it works. why does everyone waste their time finding a new home for it when putting on a new bumper lol.

like i said i did a search and saw that the ball helped control the things you said + 4x4 engagement. well i capped mine last night, and this morning the a/c blew through the vents and cruise worked at 40mph...and engaged 4x4 and everything seemed to work ok.
i did walk the trail i wheeled on and came up empty handed, so we'll see if anything changes. other than that im not going to worry about it

Things will function properly however the engine needs vacuum resivoir to run at 100% you may notice your idle being choppy or some power braking issues. your 4x4 is gonna work fine its the older jeeps with vacuum dana 30 that wouldnt work.

interesting. How does it work exactly? The truck is looking for a certain volume of pressure in order for it to work 100% correctly?

The problem will come when you are on the highway and the engine is under load. At that point there wont be enough vacuum force to spare to switch your vents from defrost to anything else. Also your cruise won't work.

Any XJ Egg will work in any XJ. The vacuum is use for emissions control, AC, Brakes, Cruise, Front axel in early XJs, heating and cooling. Sometimes everything will work without it sometimes not.

Guys even do custom stuff, relocate them. I saw one sweet job mounted below a Renix expansion bottle. A glass jug would work if you could hook up the lines! I finally wired mine in place after it was just loose down there a couple years. The "proper" bolts'n bracket might be different, on 92..sort of doubt it though.
