Actually, you have a good eye. I drilled the hole on the wrong side!!!! Don't think it really matters. I was just repeating the instructions from JeepTech and I don't see where it would make a difference personally.

Or, a hole on the front and back wouldn't matter either. Just sayin'.

Probably not. And FYI, the flute in the photo, and another one just like it, went into my 4.6 stroker pictured below.

I think it will be fine. With it cut an inch, I doubt there will be problems.
Nice stroker btw, wow!! I have a nice block just sitting there on a stand waiting for funds. I'm not sure if I want to just add a bigger cam, or stroke it. I already have a crank in great shape.

Nothing wrong with a poor man's stroker.

Mine is a Golen stroker with 20K on it when it spun a rod bearing and wiped out the cam bearings. Possibly due to a crappy filter or improper cam break-in procedure. Had the crank turned, replaced all the bearings, new cam etc.

Nice! Now you need her on the road!
I have read all about the poor man's stroker, and I'm sure I'll end up doing just that.
Now I'll be researching this "Golen Stroker", which I'll admit, I haven't heard of.

Most early and even later Renix 4.0s could be bothered by excessive oil in the air cleaner box. A fix from my old days as Service Manager at a Jeep dealership follows. Information was provided to me from a buddy at JeepTech during those days. I don’t believe it ever came out in a Technical Service Bulletin.

Remove the valve cover and turn it over. Next, remove the fluted tubes that are now facing you by removing three screws on each. Chop 1 inch off each of them. Then, about a half inch up from the area where you just sawed them off, drill a half inch hole in the tubes so the holes will face the rear of the valve cover. Clean and de-burr/sand all rough edges nicely, clean with solvent, and reinstall. Don’t be concerned about the chintzy gaskets that will probably crumble into oblivion when you remove the fluted tubes. They can go back together without gaskets.
