Well, I can put this thread to bed. Sorry for wasting time on such an outrageous topic.

The 4.0 uses SAE size fasteners for the most part.

The valve cover bolts/stud bolts are all 1/4-20x1" threads, the nuts are 1/4-20 threads.

The sockets needed are a 7/16" deep well and a shallow well (1/4" or 3/8" drive). The stud bolts and nuts will require the deep well and the left rear bolt requires the use of a univeral (swivel) adaptor and an extension to get it in/out (here's where 1/4 drive socket equipment comes in handy).

The Felpro valve cover gasket kit comes with Insulator Grommets but not the Torque Limiters (don't lose them). The torque on the valve cover fasteners is 87 inch/pounds.

So, I would need a special torque wrench and not simply a Craftsman in regular measurements?

My Craftsman torque wrench reads in Inch Pounds. What are "regular Measurements"?

Edit: I have a click type and a beam type Craftsman torque wrench, reading in inch pounds, and a Craftsman click type reading in foot pounds.

They never were 10mm. The closest to 7/16" is 11mm, but you don't need to go out and buy an 11mm socket just for this.

Foot Pounds!

I'm assembling a list, want to make sure I get what I need.

But that nut on the threaded post is NOT metric, correct?

Gotcha, thanks for the help. Did you read the first page and the first response? Hahaha!

Most 1/4" torque wrenches are in inch pounds, 3/8" can go either way, and 1/2" or larger are generally foot pounds.

Thank you.

It's perfectly okay to point out the obvious. I'm not going around here parading as an ASE Certified Mechanic. What I tend to despise is poor engineering, senseless overcomplication and things like that. As well as the senseless defense of same.

I can learn. I am not stupid. There are a bunch of things I have to take into consideration. I live in an apartment complex, so there is only so much I can do before I have to take it to a shop and get ***-raped.
