I don't know how the diesel is built but if similar to the I6 would you not just replace the head

I believe that is the way to go.

I am in Australia, and there are MANY 2.5 Diesels here...but they have TWO heads...the heads are a huge weak point, especially when older

They are Italian I believe, and possibly used in other vehicles with the same engine

The Oz Jeep forum has a vast amount of info on repair Diesel XJ
