Valve ticking
What can I do about valve ticking? A valve is ticking pretty badly when I'm on an upward slope and when it's in gear and when I hit the gas. I don't know where to start. I've never had encountered a problem like this so anything will help.

if its just valve noise
5 quarts or oil, with 1 quart of marvel mystery oil....run it for about 500 miles should clear it up
after 500 miles change oil back to whatever you were using. Make sure you use a good filter (mopar, purolator gold or napa gold)

A lifter/valve noise will not change because of a load. a piston or rod bearing can though.

An exhaust leak (hairline crack, maybe a gasket) can sound like a tick. It can also be more prominent under acceleration and virtually unnoticeable while decelerating. Gotta get underneath and start looking/inspecting with a good flashlight.

Would you suggest against welding a crack shut?
